Christmas Morning

The girls were so excited about their stockings and gifts. They couldn't believe that Santa knew exactly what they wanted. Hannah was most excited about her roller shoes and Meredith loved her new Rose Garden Cottage.

Christmas at the Meyer's

Here are all of the Meyer grandchildren.

Christmas Surprise

Look what Santa dropped off on our front porch this Christmas. The girls have been begging for a puppy that stays small and 'Santa' couldn't decide, so 'he' brought us two. Too bad Santa went back to work and I am home with two girls and two puppies all day. Meredith's is a maltese named Sammy and Hannah's is a Lhasapoo named Toby. They actually are really cute, but I hate the housebreaking stage.

Visit with Santa

We are probably the only family that doesn't have a picture of their kids with Santa. For some reason, they have been scared to death of him. This is as close as we could get them to sitting on his lap.

All I Want for Christmas Are My Six Front Teeth

Hannah won't be very happy about this post, but how could I resist. Poor girl lost all of her teeth right before Christmas.

Meredith's Christmas Wish List

In case you can't hear this very well, Meredith is asking for a red cow that can stay in our backyard and eat hotdogs.

Ice Storm Hits the Northeast

Well, we haven't had electricity since 11:00 pm last night and school has been called off for the last two days. Talk about going stir crazy. Today I felt like Laura from Little House on the Prairie. I remember this happening when I was in college here. We didn't have electricity for a long time and you could just hear trees falling over outside.

Christmas Picture Attempt

This is one of about twenty pictures taken for our Christmas cards this year. Meredith is at that age where she can't do anything you want her to do. I should have told her to cry and then she probably would have smiled. We decided to just go ahead and use one of the pictures anyway since it showed what we are really like.

First Real Snow in Kirksville

Hannah and Meredith were so excited to get home and play in the snow. Meredith didn't last very long after she realized how cold the snow was once you were wet.

Elizabeth and Foster

Can you believe how cute they are! For those of you that went to college with me, it's hard to imagine that Elizabeth was just two years old when we met her. She has grown in to such a lady.

Grandma and Grandpa Silvernail

My parents came over Thanksgiving to visit from Florida. Hannah and Meredith were so excited to see them. I bet grandma had no idea there were so many places to hide in our house while being "it" during hide and seek. Jamie and her husband Nathan also were in town. It was so nice to see everyone. Check out Grandpa John's Mizzou sweatshirt. They were in town for the big Mizzou game and Jamie couldn't resist making him wear this shirt.

Fall 2007

Can you believe it was November 10 and the temperature was 67 degrees? We haven't even had to get out the winter coats yet!

Safety Hazard?

How safe does this look? For some reason, the girls like to roast their potato chips by the fire. Of course, they are not close enough to the fire to make the chips get hot, but I don't think they care.

Halloween

Hannah wanted to be a scary witch and Hannah told Meredith that she wanted to be a witch too. Poor Meredith will probably never have her own identity. As you can see, Meredith started out as a nice witch, but soon was convinced to be a scary witch.

Winery at Rocheport

Hannah and I had lunch with some friends at the winery in Rocheport. I can't believe how beautiful it was for the end of October. Doesn't Hannah look like a jack'o'lantern in this picture? She is about to lose her two front top teeth too. Perfect for Halloween.

Hannah and Meredith at Home

These pictures were taken Sunday morning before we went out for breakfast. We had been out of town for the weekend and the girls were so excited to see us when they woke up in the morning. You would have thought we had been gone for weeks. Hannah told her grandma that she wished I didn't always have to be gone so much. I swear we haven't left them with a babysitter for a very long time (like months).

Monica's Baby Shower

This is a picture of my friend Monica who is going to have a baby in January (hopefully on my birthday). Monica and I went to high school together and then college. Her baby shower was in St. Louis this weekend. It was so nice to see everyone. Monica looks so good pregnant and says she feels wonderful. It's amazing how pregnancy just suits some people. Good luck Monica on your last trimester.

Diego and the Girls

Diego was our foster child last spring. We have kept in touch with his family and babysit for them when needed. Hannah and Meredith love when Diego visits. He is only a couple of months younger than Meredith, but she likes to treat him like he's so much younger.

Molly R.I.P.

Molly had to be put down Monday morning after suffering a spinal cord injury. We have no idea what happened. She was fine in the morning and that afternoon we called her in from outside because it was about to storm. She wasn't moving the entire hind end of her body and was just dragging it. I thought all day about how I was going to tell Hannah. I decided to be as honest with her as reasonable for her age. She cried a couple of tears and then in that child like way, asked if we could get a duckling. Meredith doesn't really understand what is going on, but asks where Molly is constantly. She could have cared less about Molly before this. We'll miss Molly, but I can honestly say I doubt she will be replaced any time in the near future. Kids are enough work without adding an animal.

Baby and Me

Meredith loves to play with baby dolls. It is so cute to watch and listen to her interact with them. I'm not sure if she understands that they are not real. She makes sure they are covered up, tries to feed them and always has one over her shoulder. She likes to put them in this car seat before we go anywhere. Today she had her purse with her and kept saying she needed her phone. Already multi-tasking. Hannah never played with dolls, so this has been a whole new experience.

Pajama Day

No spirit week is ever complete without pajama day. Too bad Hannah will never sleep in pajamas, therefore I had no idea she didn't have any that fit her until 8:00 the night before. I hurried to Wal-mart to buy these hoping she would like them. In the morning, we realized her slippers were about two sizes too small, so once again an early morning trip to Wal-mart. I don't know what I would do without that store!

Hat Day

Ok, I was wrong. She actually did wear the witch hat. Too bad her grandma drove in last night to bring her a 'cat in the hat' hat to wear. Sorry oma.

Wacky Day

Today was wacky day at Hannah's school. She tried on several outfits before deciding on this one. She hates to get any kind of attention, but wants to be a part of the activities. Usually she gets real brave the night before, but changes her mind in the morning. Tomorrow is hat day. She says she is going to wear a witch hat, but I have my doubts.

Redneck Training Wheels

Josh has been teaching Meredith how to ride a bike. He is tired of leaning over to guide her along, so he came up with this idea. A true entrepreneur. Meredith loses interest pretty quickly and would much rather just walk her bike.

The Great Hunter

I am so lucky that if there were to ever to be a famine, my family would not go hungry (not that I could ever eat venison). Josh shot this deer with his bow opening day of deer season. Hannah loves to be in on the action, but Meredith would not even go near the deer.
